Traditional Baklava

One of Turkey’s most famous sweets is Baklava. The traditional recipe consists of 3 basic ingredients: phyllo dough, nuts and honey.


Ingredients

  • A package phyllo dough

  • 500gr chopped nuts

  • 2 tea spoon cinnamon

  • 2 tea spoon

  • 1 tea spoon sugar

  • 300gr butter

For the syrup:

  • 500gr sugar

  • 400gr water

  • 80gr honey

  • 1 tea spoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180’C

  2. Unroll philo dough and put them in the baking pan with butter through. Repeat until you have 8 sheets and sprinkle 3 spoon of nut mixture.

  3. Next take a sharp knife and cut into square shapes all the bottom of the pan. Bake for an hour until baklava is golden.

  4. At the same time we make the syrup. Boil the sugar with water for 20 minutes and add vanilla and honey.

  5. After an hour take the baklava from the oven and sprinkle it with the syrup. Let it cool for a while and is ready to serve.
