A trip to Rome: Our top picks for foodies

Italy nowadays, is the origin of some of the best food in the entire world. Rome, the capital city of Italy, is the best destination for any traveler with taste, who admires quality food. We visited Rome and had the chance to taste many specialties of the city.

While roaming in the streets near Piazza di Spagna, we discovered a little caffè located on Via dei Condotti, “Antico caffè Greco”, which was named after its Greek founder Nicola della Maddalena and is the most historical caffè of the city. There, we tasted the most delicious (and unfortunately the most expensive) tiramisu of the country. In addition, we found out that, in Rome, cold coffee is served without any ice cubes, they just freeze hot coffee in advance.

Rome, is also known for the best gelato and the whole city is full of Ice cream shops. We tasted ice cream by many different shops, but our favorites were “Frigidarium” and of course the well-known “Venchi”. Both shops are located in the center of Rome and offer a great variety of ice cream flavors and other sweets and pastries.

Last but not least, we tasted many of the city’s traditional goods, including pizza and pasta. We really enjoyed spaghetti at “Roscioli”, a historical bakery located on Via dei Giubbonari, a street at the center of the city. Our favorite pizza was at “Dar Poeta”. This restaurant is located on a narrow cobbled street in Trastevere and offers a really cozy atmosphere and special tastes.
