Christmas in "the millet of the elves"

Updated: Dec 28, 2018

This year we decided to spend Christmas day at one of the most beautiful destinations, with a fantastic Christmas fair in Trikala, a city in northwestern Thessaly Greece.

There, we visited ”the millet of the elves” that operates since December of 2011. It's the right place for everyone to live the magic of Christmas and taste traditional food. In this small magical place we had the chance to visit the house of Santa Claus that is found in the most beautiful spot of the park and walk among the magical forest over the river. While strolling around we discovered the parchment tree in which the “little fairies” live.

Of course, we couldn't miss the local tastes and products from the Christmas market with beautifully decorated wooden houses where we tasted different traditional pies, cheese and wine.

There was also the “chocolate factory”, where many desserts were made at the moment. Τhe “elves” made a warm and colorful candy, creating unique designs while the “goblins” made huge chocolates with cocoa, nuts, fruit and herbs. The fairies made their own fragrant biscuits and cakes. Furthermore we found delicious “kourabiedes” and “melomakarona” the most famous greek christmas sweets.

Christmas spirit and christmas smells were everywhere. Don’t miss this magic place and these christmas tastes if you ever visit Greece for Christmas!
